In other words, Firth plays Lomax, a British officer who is captured by the Japanese in Singapore and sent to a POW camp, where he is forced to work on the Thai-Burma Railway. So yes, we are talking about a true story of a victim from World War II’s Death Railway who sets out to find those responsible for his torture. Teplitzky directed the whole thing from a script written by Frank Cottrell Boyce and Andy Paterson, but just in case you forgot – the movie is based on the best-selling autobiography by Eric Lomax.
